FAQs

Here are some frequently asked questions by Elementary parents which might be of help to you:

Can we borrow books from the Elementary library as a parent?
Elementary parents are more than welcome to browse and borrow books from the Elementary Library without their children. Parents can borrow up to ten books at a time. Please do keep in mind that the different library areas are learning spaces throughout the day.

Can I remain in the Elementary, Middle or High School Libraries throughout the day?
We encourage parents to borrow books from all three libraries at any time of day, however if you wish to remain for an extended period of time to read, work or wait for your child until dismissal, the parent area of the library is the ideal place. All three libraries are primarily student spaces, hence the creation of a designated parent space within the library complex. Equally, all parents have the option of relaxing in our new Kantina spaces.

Can we borrow books from the Middle School and High School libraries?
Elementary parents are welcome to borrow books from the other two libraries. Please be mindful that the Middle and High School Libraries are learning spaces for our older students and we need to be respectful of this. If you are accompanied by your children, you have a responsibility to ensure they respect these learning spaces of our older students.

Can an Elementary student remain in the Elementary library until I can pick them up?
We understand that there might be times when for a variety of reasons, you are running late in picking up your child. Elementary students in Grades 1 - 4 are able to get a library pass from the canteen and wait for you in the Elementary library until you arrive.
Can an Elementary student remain in the Elementary library after school waiting for a sibling in Middle or High School?
We understand that there might be some days when an Elementary student has to remain after school for their Middle or High School sibling. They can obtain a library pass from the canteen until 3:00 pm. After 3:00 pm, they can get a pass from the Elementary office. If your older child’s schedule calls for your Elementary aged child to wait everyday or most days of the week for long periods of time, arrangements should be made such that your younger child can go home earlier.

Are after school tutoring sessions allowed in the Elementary Library?

As per previous years, due to limited space we do not allow these sessions to take place in the ES library.
